Greetings and welcome to Burleigh Heads Uniting Church. Last Sunday I was at Tallebudgera Uniting as Ken was on holidays and Pat Johnson - Community Chaplain lead and preached at Burleigh. What a fantastic opportunity for both churches to experience something different and for Pat, as a leader in our church, it has given him invaluable experience.
Next Saturday we will have our special concert entitled Songs to Remember. We would love you to attend and also
please bring at least one friend. This is a fundraiser for the church.
This afternoon we are conducting our Annual Anzac Service at 3pm and
FAMILY@ 5 down stairs at 5pm. So we would love to see as
many of you as possible at
either service.
Thursday 25th April I will be speaking at both
Anzac Day services at Burleigh - 4.28am, Dawn service and the 9.30am March and
service at 10am at Memorial Park, corner of Connor St and Gold Coast Highway.
Hope to see you at one of the services - I am the RSL Padre this
year.

Bless,
Rev. Colin

us.
Last Sunday night we had the privilege
of presenting the Christian message at the Burleigh Community

especially for this job. What an opportunity.

Today Ken Anderson leads
and preaches as I am away on holidays. November is going to be an exciting month
again for us. Student life – the young people we have supported over the last 2
years, who outreach during schoolies, will be here on Sunday 18th
and also on the 25th November. On
the 18th November we will also have a special musical presentation called hope of the
ages.Helen, who has presented music before, and her team will present
this lovely pre Christmas musical presentation. This on the 18th
will replace the sermon - or we will have a sermon in song.
Today’s sermon will highlight that we are companions on a journey - supporting one another in our
Christian life - sharing God’s love and grace and supporting
oneanother in outreach and mission. How are you going
praying the daily prayer as outlined in our prayer points last
week.I have included it again
this week for those who missed it last week.

attended the Global leadership Summit -
A willow creek training
program -incredible is my word for the event. One challenge at the very end of
the 2 days was to pray each morning for the next month a special prayer called
“My Morning Prayer” which has been placed for your use in the prayer
points.

The book of James is a fantastic book in the bible that is a real encouragment
to Christians. Many people have commented on how much they are enjoying our
sermons on this book and how much teaching there is in such a small book. Two
chapters to go and still so mouch to reflect on.
On Wednesday 60 guests and volunteers
attended a celebration meal and bus trip to celebrate the second anniversary of
the 'Never Alone Friendship Centre' it was a wonderful day had by
all.
Church Council meets today- PLease pray for council as
they discuss exciting ministry oppertunities for 2013.

OH DEAR, DEAR, DEAR.
WHAT IS OUR MULTI TASKING MINISTER GOING TO DO NEXT.
HE IS STARTING TO WORRY ME AS HE JOINED THE KNITTING CIRCLE AT NEVER ALONE .
IF HE PLANS TO KNIT A PULLOVER FOR HIMSELF, THE COST OF ALL THE WOOL NEEDED WILL SEND HIM BROKE. WHAT A CHEERFUL LOOK ON HIS FACE.
Today we commission our Elders and Church Council for their significant servant leadership role within our congregation for 2012. Last week new Elders were elected. They were Mary-Anne Smith and Neville & Dulcie Free.
Last Sunday our AGM went smoothly and all reports and issues were dealt with quickly. After the event, we realized that we didn’t put the Budget for 2012 to a vote. It was put in the documentation for all to see and reflect on. At our next Church Council Meeting on 26th February, 2012, we will move a motion to amend the AGM minutes to include the passing of the 2012 budget. If you have any questions or issues that you would like to bring up, in reference to this budget, please talk to Barbara Fulham or Robert Kelly or ring Cath Clark in the office, Monday morning. Thank you to all those who attended our AGM last week.
As we seek to listen to the Lord’s direction for our church, we realize that , as a church, we must continually be in prayer about the future and all that God is calling us to do.
God Bless,
Rev Colin
